Robin’s Nest nestles under the Onrus mountains at the entrance to Hemel-en-Aarde Valley in the picturesque, secure, private country estate of Glen-Fruin which was originally part of the farm Rheezicht.
Situated in the lush garden, it boasts 3 star self-catering accommodation [breakfast can be arranged] all units have en-suite, braai facilities and secure parking. A bird-watchers paradise with robins, hadeda ibis, heron, guinea fowl and francolins. Along the river path egyptian geese, yellow billed ducks, coucal, kingfishers, nightjars and hoopoe’s can be observed.
We are within walking distance of the wine village with its stunning restaurants, art galleries, wine-cellars and even a morning market.
Robin’s nest is at the entrance to the hemel-en-aarde wine route with the renowned cellars of Bouchard-Finlayson, Sumaridge, Newton Johnston and many more - also the superb restaurants, La Vierge and Heaven where many a bride and groom have made their vows.
We are only 3kms from the vibrant, busy Hermanus with plenty to do, including whale-watching, hiking, fishing, golf, horse-rides, swimming, paragliding, quad biking or just relax at one of the spa’s or shop till you drop!
We are close to the tidal pool at Onrus and only 1 km from Sandbaai beach.
Hermanus is the whale capital of the world. With annual whale migrations to the Cape South Coast to breed, Hermanus offers outstanding land-based whale watching. There is also boat-based whale watching with trips departing the New Harbour all day.
If you are feeling more adventurous, why not hire a sea kayak and get to know the coastline a little better. Often you will get quite close to the whales, although for safety it is not advised to go whale-chasing in a kayak!
Also famous for it's wines, there is much to offer the wine lover and connoisseur alike. The well known Hermanus Pietersfontein Winery is just a two minute walk from Robin's Nest Guest House. There is also a nearby wine cellar offering a wide assortment of local and provincial South African wine.
